Privacy Policy

katokmap is a community map of nasi katok shops in Brunei. We keep the data we collect to the minimum needed to run it. We don't sell your data and we don't use it for advertising. Anything you post — ratings, photos, shop details — is public.

• Your account. When you create an account we store your email and a display name. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your basic profile (name and email) with us.
• What you contribute. Ratings, food photos, shop submissions, ownership claims, price/hours suggestions, and reports — all linked to your account.
• Technical data. To keep shops genuine and block spam, your request is checked by Cloudflare's bot protection (Turnstile), which sees your IP address — we don't store it ourselves. When you sign in, we set secure session cookies to keep you logged in. We may also use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics that don't identify you personally.

• To run katokmap and show your contributions to the community.
• To prevent spam and abuse (rate limits and bot checks).
• To maintain, debug, and improve the service.

We do not sell your personal data or use it for advertising.

Ratings, photos, and shop information you submit are visible to everyone, including people who aren't signed in. Please don't upload anything you wouldn't want shown publicly.

We use trusted providers to run the service, who process data on our behalf:

• Neon — database hosting.
• Cloudflare — photo storage and bot protection.
• Vercel — app hosting (and cookieless analytics, if enabled).
• Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google.

These services may store data on cloud infrastructure outside Brunei. We don't otherwise share or sell your data.

• You can sign out, or update your account, at any time.
• If you run a shop you've claimed, you can replace or remove its photos. To remove a review photo you posted — or any other content — email us and we'll take it down. Admins can remove any content.
• To delete your account and the data tied to it, email us at katokmaps@gmail.com.

We keep your data while your account is active or as needed to run the service.

katokmap isn't directed at children under 13. Please don't use it if you're under 13, or under the minimum age in your country.

We may update this policy as katokmap grows. When we do, we'll change the “last updated” date above.
